Players have a ball each and go through different dribbling variations as instructed by the coach. This gets your players running while also improving their hand-eye coordination.

warming-up : 3:3 position play

Players stand approximately 10 metres apart from one another in a 3:3 attacking formation and pass the ball between themselves using a variety of passes. The aim is to move the ball around quickly and accurately catching using one and two hands to receive the ball.

Players stand in groups behind different cones. Players must pass the ball to the player opposite them and then follow their pass behind the player on the opposite side. Players can use a variation of passes: Center shot, jump shot (3,2,1 step rhythm), push pass, bounce pass, double handed pass, rolled pass, pass using your weaker hand etc.

warming-up : Diagona Pass and Follow

Simple pass and follow drill. Starting with two players on the first cone and then one player on every other cone. The first player throws the ball to player two and then immediately sprints to follow their pass. Player 2 catches the ball and then turns and throws the player 3 before then also following their pass. This pattern continues until the player on the final cone receives the ball. At this point they dribble back to the start cone and the drills starts again.

warming-up : Figure of 8

Set up two circles of cones across the width of the court. Players run one at a time around the cones in a figure of 8 as quickly as possible. You can split your players into two groups in both halves of the court and run this exercise as a relay race - the first team to complete the figure of 8 running wins the race!

warming-up : Give and Go snake run passing

The first player waiting in line passes to the first player on the cone and immediately follows their pass and runs behind that player to receive the return pass. Once they have the ball in hand again they pass the ball to the next player and drive behind them to loop in front of them and receive the ball again. Once the player reaches the end of the course they dribble the ball to the corner and then sprint around the court back to the end of the line with the ball in hand.
