
Organisation: Place two rows of 5 cones, spaced equally apart, in the marked area. Place 1 football roughly 5 feet away from the first cone in each row, in a marked box as a starting point. Split the group into two equal teams (take into account groups ability and split accordingly to ensure balanced teams), and instruct them to form a line between each ball. Instruct the first player to take control of the ball and dribble between each cone until they reach the end, then turn and dribble the ball back to the starting box in a straight line. Once the first player reaches the starting box, the second player will take the ball and complete the course as before, following through in a relay fashion until each player as completed the circuit. Progression: Complete the first round at a walking pace, ensuring all individuals have the understanding, then gradually increase the speed to a jog/run in following rounds. Stagger cones, causing the players to have to dribble in a diagonal fashion rather than following a straight line Reduce the space between each cone, increasing the difficulty of the task and ensuring close control. Coaching points: Encourage the players to use all parts of their foot to control the ball and dribble in different directions Keep their head up as best as possible to see where they are going Ensure close control, ball should be on more than 2 feet from the player at any point during exercise.
