Switch of Play- Start with left and right wingers and groups of 3 âcentral playersâ. Begin with left winger taking a few touches then playing driven pass diagonally across the field into path of on rushing right winger. Right winger then drives to the by line before cutting the ball back for the 3 midfielders and strikers. After a while switch so right wingers are given a go at switching the play. Progressions- 1- Winger that switches the play now runs in to join attack at back post. 2- Add in 2 or 3 central defenders to put pressure on attackers.
Coaching Points- Wingers- Touch out of feet to enable a good driven pass. Try to avoid lofted pass as they may be cut out easier. Positive touch forward and dribble at speed too by line. Wrap foot around the ball to be able to cut ball back. Lift head before crossing and attempt to pick out a team mate. Midfielders/Forwards- Try not to run in straight lines as it is easier for defenders to pick up. Timing of run so they are not static in the box as again it is easier for defenders to pick up. One front post, one back post and one hang back slightly Limit touches in box to one or two touches if possible to work on fast finishes to move.
