In the square, there is a 4v2 situation created, with the attacking team having the numerical advantage. The attacking team has 2 wingers in the wide zones who cannot move past the first line of cones - The attacking team in the square must reach 'X' number of passes - Once the pass goal is reached, the winger can begin to move forward and the attacking players in the square must play the ball into the wide zone - Two attacking players then break from the square into the box (unfollowed by defenders from the square), while the winger who does not recieve the ball should break to the back post - Players in the box should aim to score past the keeper
PROGRESSIONS - Add defenders into square to create 4v3 and 4v4 situations - Add defenders in wide zones to challenge wingers - Add central defender in box to deal with cross - Allow defenders from the square to track the attackers runs KEY POINTS - Replicates breaking from midfield and creating chances - Ensure the winger who does not recieve the ball moves into the back post, as this is where the majority of crosses will end up - The idea is to weight the pass from the square into the wingers path to allow them to cross first time
