Community | First Touch Finishing Drill

Abraham Hardjana Coach, Canada

DESCRIPTION

The objective of this drill is for the players to receive the ball. With their first touch they are looking to move the ball away from pressure to give them time and space to shoot with their next touch. Split your group into two teams. The red team lines up with balls. 1. First red player serves the ball to the first blue player. 2. As soon as the ball is served, the red player proceeds to pressure the shooter and prevent a shot on net. 3. The blue player receives the ball and with their first touch. 4. On the next touch the player shoots. To ensure proper pressure from the defensive player, the losing team should be made to perform a small but fun punishment. Progressions: Add second set of players on opposite side to use their opposite foot Reduce/increase the distance between the defender and attacker Chose a different angle for the pass and defender to come from Increase the number of touches if attackers are having difficulty Have the attempts be timed to increase intensity.
