Setup: as before Description: A1 plays into A2 and follows his pass to overlap. A2 plays in to A3, at which point D1 (yellow) becomes live and can try to win the ball - this is where spontaneity must come in from A3 - can he sell the defender and lose him to set his team mates or turn? Progressions: Add 2nd defender. This means that the overload is reduced by 33% and therefore the timing and quality of runs and passes need to be top notch. D1 and D2 still only become live on A2-A3. Add 3rd defender. Defenders become live immediately. This now means there is no overload - it's a 3v3. Spontaneity is now required from the ball beocming live - don't be predictable. Make game related and take a score. Each ball being played in is one round, but defenders can now counter attack through two mini goal on each wing on the halfway line.
As above, plus: Decision Making - be fast and clever with decisions. There's no time for hesitancy! Offsides (U11+) - timing of runs and passes has to be spot on to avoid being caught offside. Transitions - if you lose the ball be quick to get it back
