Football Drill Demonstration

Players are split into two teams and play a normal game. Before kick-off, Coach will number each player in their corresponding team colour, for example: Red 1, Red 2, Red 3, Red 4 and Blue 1, Blue 2, Blue 3, Blue 4.

During the match, Coach will call out a number, eg. Red 3. Red 3 will then have to run back to their back line in their own half and only once they have done that can they resume play in the game. The aim is so whilst this player is doing this, the opposing team can exploit the man down advantage and try to score using an overload. But they have to do it quickly as they'll soon be level playing again.

Coaching points

- Emphasis on decision making and quick reactions.

- Players recognise that they have an advantage or they're a man down and react quickly to accommodate for the situation.
