DESCRIPTION

Setup

• Extend the width of the 18 yard box to midfield
• Place a game goal at midfield
• Team Defending Endline Goal (blue team)l has goalkeeper, 3 defenders, 2 wide midfielders, 2 central midfielders, and 1 forward
• Team Defending Midfield Goal (red team) has 3 defenders, 2 wide midfielders, 2 center midfielders, and 1 forward (they do not have a goalkeeper)
• All balls start in goal with goalkeeper

Rules 

• Play four 5 minute periods. 
• Teams switch sides after each period.
• The first 2 periods the team with goalkeeper (blue team) has two touch and the other team (red team) is unlimited
• The last two periods both teams are unlimited touches
• Every ball that goes out of bounds starts with goalkeeper with ball in their hands
• Defending team (red team) must get out of 18 yard box until ball is played
• Goalkeeper can distrubute to any player on the field they desire
• Once goalkeeper lets go of the ball the defending team (red team) can enter 18 yard box and press
• Play until a ball goes out then goalkeeper gets new ball and restarts as soon as they are ready
• Team shooting on goalkeeper score 2 points for every goal, team shooting on empty net scores 1 point

Additional Options

• Add throw-ins
• Add goalkeeper in midfield next and finish with 10 minute of regular game play on smaller tight field

2. Understanding what options are most effective and how to play off them

• Speed of play and quick transitioning
• Defending in passing lanes where you can effectively cut off options while still being in position to pressure the man your responsible for
