DESCRIPTION

SKILL FOCUS: Individual Soccer Skills.

EQUIPMENT: One goal post, marker cones and soccer ball

WHAT TO DO:

Setup:

  • Place the goal post in the middle of the playing area.
  • Place a red zone around the goal post in a square, marked with cones (red cones).
  • Place a safe zone marked with green/orange cones.
  • Divide the class into teams of 5 members where 1 member is the goal keeper.
  • The goal keeper is the only member of the team allowed in the Red Zone.
  • The other members are the only members allowed in the safe zone.

Playing the Game:

  • The blue team (Team A) will start the game.
  • The will pass the ball around the Safe Zone (not allowed to pass to the goal keeper inside the Red Zone.
  • The goal keeper may join the game inside the Safe Zone.
  • One side of the goal post is for the blue team to score and the other for the red team (Team B).
  • Team B should try defending the ball and stealing it from Team A.
  • Normal soccer rules apply.
  • The first team to score a goal wins the round.
  • Team Shadow replaces the loosing team and start the game for round two.
  • The team at the end of 8 - 10 minutes wins.

COACHING POINTS

The coach is the outside referee.

Control the game and the penalties.

Your decision is gold. The learners need to respect the referee in a game and you as coach, it starts at practise.
