DESCRIPTION

  • 25x20 yards (18 yards between the 2 goals)
  • Blue drills in a pass to the red
  • The red takes 1 touch out of their feet and shoot on goal

Level 1: Receive with the inside of the dominant foot

Level 2: Receive with the inside of the NON-dominant foot

Level 3: Receive with the outside of the dominant foot

Level 4: Receive with the outside of the NON-dominant foot

Level 5: Hook the ball behind the other foot (similar to a cruyff turn)

Progression:

  • Defender can press (not tackle), attackers 1st touch goes away from the defender (can they fake the defender)
  • Defender can now tackle if the touch is loose and counter attack to score on 1 of the goals

Coaching Points (Defender):

  • Press quickly and slow down on approach (long strides to short steps)
  • Try to force the player onto the weaker foot
  • Can you force the player outwide into a dead end.
  • Pounce on any loose touch, or if the attackers head is down.
