DESCRIPTION

Organisation

  • Area relevant to players ability and/or age
  • Triangular stations marked out by cones inside the square
  • One football for every two players, roughly

Players on the outside play a pass to the player in the triangle. The player who played pass now takes the position in the triangle and the player who received the ball takes his touch out of the triangle and dribbles away. 

Progression

One defender in the area who applies pressure to the player receiving the ball. He's not allowed to tackle. The players must decide if it's safe for them to receive and open out or if they should do a bounce pass. 

COACHING POINTS

  • Timing, weight and accuracy of the pass
  • Receiving the ball on the back foot to set up for first touch out of triangle
  • Checking the shoulder to see if it's safe to exit
  • Communication between the passer and the receiver
