Releasing a Medium Range pass:

Drill setup:

Pitch divided into segments.

Drill description:

Dependent on numbers, In pairs or small groups, players will be keeping possession between themselves. Players aren’t allowed to release a pass to their/someone from their group if they are in the same segment.

COACHING POINTS

Basic Details of passing, plant foot/part of foot/type of pass
Weight of pass.
First touch, good first touch to setup and easier pass to perform.

Advanced Points:

Play to space in front of teammate instead of feet (requires communication from teammate)

Progressions:

Minimise touches, try to play medium range passes first time.
Restrict feet usage, only allowed to use weaker foot for example.
Miss out segments, requires a slight longer pass
