how to introduce wing back formation
Hi Toby,
Firstly you need the personnel to be able to play this formation as you will likely need to play with 3 centre backs. With these 3 centre backs, that will allow you to play more attacking minded players in the wing back position as they will have less defensive responsibilities.
I would look to introduce this in training by setting your team up in a 5-3-2 formation across the pitch and getting them to pass the ball amongst themselves whilst holding their position. You can then build this into passive attacking scenarios and then retreating back into their starting position.
