Have a month or more of just running. Start of easy. Have the first practice be 10 Minutes running with a two minute break. Do this 4 times. Do this first day. The next day Go up to 12 minutes with a two minute break. Also do this first time the same day. Each day go up higher. After 12 go to 15 or even 18. Each day go up higher until you think their ready. The most you should go should go in my opinion is 45min. Keep going until you think their ready. After their ready don`t stop doing some running at regular practice sessions.
