Hi Jonathan, in the "Floor Is Lava" drill, players initially start at the same time but the other players then start dribbling as soon as they receive the ball. The drill involves players working diagonally across a square, avoiding others who are also working across the square. The setup is designed to have players dribble across, and the more space they have, the bigger touches they can take.
