Does anyone have a good man marking drill. My players tend to ball chase and leave their opponent open.
small sided games are good i got some evasion belts from newitts .com they are a velcro held belt attacued to each player and i the attacker gets to far rom defender the belt seperates and attacker wins if defender stays in touch for 20 30 secs defender wins start with out ball thenintroduce ball and 1 more attacking player
How old are they?
The players are U14
I play a small sided game which my U14s really enjoy. Play a normal small sided game but pair up a player on each team. So lets say Steve (red team) is paired with Paul (green team). If Steve scores, Paul has to do a small forfeit (10-20 press ups or push ups as an example).
This as soon as a player loses possession of the ball, they react really quickly to go back and mark their own man to stop them from scoring.
When i get time i will post some other drills online.
That woul be great! This drill will get me started, thanks

A player's first touch determines everything that follows: whether they can play forward, turn, or simply retain the ball. This article explores why training first touch in isolation is not enough, and how to design sessions that develop this critical skill under realistic game pressure.
