Skipping is a fantastic exercise for speed improvement.

Skip for 1 minute

Take 1 minute rest

Skip for 1 minute

Repeat this 8 times

 

Also ladder/cone drills improve speed. E.g. run through ladders with 1 or 2 feet in each.

If accessible, use resistance bands to increase difficulty in ladders.
