Hi,Last season we came 3rd in the league and only?

Hi, Last season we came 3rd in the league and only lost 3 games and that was to the 2 teams above us. We are now U10s and we have played 3 games this season already and lost all 3. The teams we were beaten by, we beat convincingly last season. We have not changed our team we still have all the same players. We have been beaten with a nightmare score line of 9-0, 6-0 and 7-1. It would seem that the teams we are playing now are passing the ball around a lot more better than us. Any one know what i can do to improve possession and passing in our matches? Thanks

Have you thought about changing your formation to one that accomodates possession play?

I've just taken over the team I used to only coach and I've changed the formation from a 4-4-2 to a 4-2-3-1

Build a partnership between the 2 holding midfielders so that when one is in possession the other always makes themself available so that their is always an option for the other to play the ball back if options are limited.

Our ability to keep hold of possession has improved drastically in the space of only 4 games!
