Game related recovery runs when defending - what should I look for?
what should I look for in level two football coaching assesments
If it's a matter of fitness then I think this will be a period of high intensity work defending the attacking danger (shadowing, sprinting and shepherding), followed by a period of recovery as players jog out from the back after having cleared the ball.
normally you have 3 lines of recovery. Near post, far post and middle of goal recovery runs. Players need to make recovery runs towards those areas when going backwards.
Its a simplified way of saying make recovery runs that will lead to compactness in defence.
