Hi, I coach about 20-30 adults on half a full size astro turf pitch (which we only have for an hour so time is very limited). They are a decent ability and I'm just wondering if anyone has any creative ideas for either big group drills that keeps them all engaged or smaller drills that are easy to set up and they can rotate around. Thanks
simplesthave the same drill set up 3 or 4 times in the space provided. so if yoou have 20 players have have 5 grids with 4 per grid. it also depends on the intensity ofthe work out you wish to achieve.
Ryan`s idea is usually the first I go to in these situations.
Another one is to have an outer rectangle (half the pitch or 60x40) with a smaller rectangle 5m inside with a 15x15 square exactly in the middle of the smaller rectangle.
20 players are put into 2 teams. 2v2 in the smallest square, 4v4 spread around the smaller rectangle and 4v4 spread around the outer rectangle.
Simple aim: Score a goal everytime a ball is successfully passed from the inside to the outside via the middle rectangle and then back again to the smaller square via the mid rectangle
Just to add that the above game, the goal is scored ONLY if opponents havent touched the ball throughout the whole sequence. If ball lost or goes out of play then ball served into the square to restart.

Set pieces account for roughly a third of all goals in football, yet many coaches spend surprisingly little time coaching defensive organisation at corners and free kicks. This article compares zonal and man marking systems, explores hybrid approaches, and provides a practical session structure for building set piece resilience into your team.
A player's first touch determines everything that follows: whether they can play forward, turn, or simply retain the ball. This article explores why training first touch in isolation is not enough, and how to design sessions that develop this critical skill under realistic game pressure.
