Cricket: Low Catching - Warm Up

DESCRIPTION

**AUDIO DESCRIPTION ON**

  • Players create a circle around a central stump, and line up with a partner on the opposite side of the circle.
  • Players swap knee height catches with their partner, throwing the ball in the direction of the stump.
  • Catcher should be ready to react if the ball clips the stump.

COACHING POINTS

  • Players should be set themselves in a dynamic low power position.
  • Knees should be slightly bent with body weight slightly forward.
  • Hands should be together out in front of the body at about knee height, ready to take the catch.

PROGRESSION

  • Players can use only the right hand to take the catch and throw.
  • Players can use only the left hand to take the catch and throw.
  • Make it a competition by challenging the players on the first to make it to 10 catches with two hands, right hand and left hand.
