Jon Coach, England

DESCRIPTION

Teaching defenders to shepard attackers particular directions Def dribbles ball into zone Def stops ball in zone Def rounds the cone to get goal side of attacker Attacker picks the ball up and tries to score End - shot, tackle, out of bounds

COACHING POINTS

Body Position - too central to attacker means they can go either way. Be further across to the side you dont want them to go Body Angle - to flat means you are left flat footed. Angle body towards the way you want to send them. Body Height - stay low. More stable. Easier to push off. Movement - fast round the cone to get to the defender but then slow down. Don't dive in. Less likely to get beaten and gives other players chance to get back. Foot - If you can show them on their weaker foot. Sometimes show them on their favoured foot if it will send them out wide. Progression - make zone wider so def has to work harder to get back to the attacker
