Starting line-up for Theale Tigers Blacks v Ashridge Park United (A) 24/04/21.
Subs:
Harrison, Kai, James S, James P.
Absent:
Rahul (Illness), Dan (Cricket).
We struggled to get going, finding ourselves under pressure for a majority of the opening 15 minutes. Freddie made a brilliant stop to deny a goal, but the resulting corner ended in a goal for the opposition.
Harrison equalised with a cross-turned-shot from out wide (assisted by Oscar). We missed a number of easy chances in the first half and at half-time the score was 1-1.
We moved Lewis to right midfield in the second half to provide support for the fullbacks who they kept doubling up on.
After great work from Harrison, James S and Lewis, Carn converted a cross to put us in the lead. It was our best team goal of the season so far.
Kai, Elliot (2) and Evan added to the scoreline to record an emphatic 6-1 win. Although the opposition failed to trouble us in the second half, the scoreline didn't reflect the difficulty of the game and the opposition.
Evan won MOTM for a well taken goal as well as an assist.
Other key perfomances came from Ellis, Tom (leadership) and Freddie looked very assured in goal after a wobbly performance last week.
Harrison and Elliot, although very good individual players, need to start trusting their team-mates more.

Roughly a fifth of Premier League goals come from set pieces, and the gap between teams who plan their routines and teams who do not has never been wider. Here is how the modern set-piece specialists design attacking corners, free kicks, and throw-ins - and how you can apply their ideas at any level.
The next frontier in football coaching is not physical, it is mental. Cognitive load training - the deliberate use of perception, decision-making and dual-task demands inside football drills - is reshaping how the best academies develop players. Here is what it means and how to use it.
If the last decade taught us about pressing, this one is teaching us about what stands behind it. Rest defence is the shape your team holds while attacking, and it is the difference between dominating a game and getting picked off on the counter.
