Main Session
technique
10-15minutes
Start of by getting into pairs and make a box not to big so that all of them fit and you have them pass the balls 2 times to each other then start with the ball and have to try get to the other side and it’s the defenders job to stop them and after switch over then go into a group of 4 and do 2v2 where to defenders stop the people with the ball
Skills
10-15
Get into 2 groups of 7 split up between 3 defenders and 4 attackers so that it’s more of a challenge for defenders and they have to get the ball from one side of the pitch to the other and see how many times they can do it after that switch over each time
Game
5aside
10-15
A game related to the skills and techniques they have learnt so they use lots of defending to stop the ball going in the goal and in the other player half
Use cones and 2 half of the pitches and use goals for the session

Set pieces account for roughly a third of all goals in football, yet many coaches spend surprisingly little time coaching defensive organisation at corners and free kicks. This article compares zonal and man marking systems, explores hybrid approaches, and provides a practical session structure for building set piece resilience into your team.
A player's first touch determines everything that follows: whether they can play forward, turn, or simply retain the ball. This article explores why training first touch in isolation is not enough, and how to design sessions that develop this critical skill under realistic game pressure.
The coaching methodology revolution sweeping grassroots football - and how to implement it at your club this season.
