SETUP:
- Use the width of the 6yd box and extend to 10yd zones beyond the top of the 18yd box
- 1v2, coach serves the ball to one of the attacking pair who start outside line A. Defender starts inside the 18
- When an attacker crosses line B, a second defender can start a recovery run from outside line A but must cross line C at the top of the 18 before he can provide cover
- Use GK
- Attackers objective is to score on the goal, defenders score a point by recovering to win the ball back and pass to a neutral/coach over line A
COACHING POINTS
- Initial defensive focus is to contain and delay the threat to give teammate time to arrive. Risk vs Reward on challenging too early. 2nd defender must recover as quickly as possible.
- Focus then shifts to working 2v2 to cover partner then winning the ball, using 1v1 techniques
