Triangle Passing Relay with motion

DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this race is to have players move the ball down the field using triangle passing before finishing on net.  The fiirst team to finish (and score) gets one point.

Set up:

• Divide players into two teams.
• Divide field into four zones for each team using different color cones

Game Play:

• each team must use three players to move the ball down field and finish on goal.
• teams start at same time and race eachother.
• each player on a team must touch the ball in each zone.
• once a player has touched the ball within a zone and made a pass, that player moves into the next zone.
• play continues down field
• once all three players have touched the ball in the last zone, one player may move to the finishing zone (set up in the goal box) to receive the final pass and finish
• the first team to finish earns a point for their team.
• a team is disqualified if their ball leaves a zone without all three playes touching it.
• once the teams finish, the next set of players begins.

COACHING POINTS

Possible Vatiations:

• additional player(s) within each group for shorter passes and more touches (teaches increased complexity)

• add a defender from the opposing team
• alternate change up the order in which players play the zones.  i.e., playes start moving in order through the zones.  Try having them go from zones 1-3-2-4-finish, 1-2-4-3-finish, or 1-4-2-3-finish, etc...
