Numbers Passing

DESCRIPTION

  • All players with ONLY a single ball for the entire group in a 25 (30) x 25( 30) size grid (adjust for age and player number)
  • Number each player 1-x (depending on number of players on your team)
  • Have all players start a walk in any direction within the grid.  Everyone should be going in all different directions and spread out
  • Coach pass’s in first ball to player 1
  • 1 passes to 2, 2 passes to 3, 3 passes to 4 ect ect
  • Last numbered person passes back to 1
    • Focus on proper technique passing and receiving pass
  • Add in a second soccer ball and increase speed as players get used to it.
  • Eventually progress to an easy jog (just above a walk speed)
  • Have them go in reverse order 4 to 3, 3 to 2, 2 to 1
    • *Variations* There are a lot of variation for this drill available that can be incorporated depending on age and skill level of team
      • Add in second, third, or even 4th ball as players get comfortable with passing, trapping and moving
      • Incorporate a dribble move before passing
      • Have them play it in the air for live chest and thigh trapping work
      • Have them hold the ball and practice controlled volleys to teammates
      • One touch or two touch passing
      • Sprints/or side to side movement post pass
      • Opening up body and hips pre or post pass
