8 vs 8 possession football in an area 50 by 40 yards, with an end zone at each end side of the area.
Players are encouraged to maintain possession and move the ball forward, then player in to a player in the end zone. Players switch when ball is played in to the end zone with the target player.
Exercise focuses on maintain possession and playing the ball forward at early opportunities.
To progress - Area can be made smaller, emphasising the importance of first touch control and maintaining possession.
1. Recieving skills - First touch control, awareness, movement, turning
2. Decision making - Type of first touch taken, choice of pass, range of pass, timing
3. Movement - Players making themself available to recieve the ball.
4. Confidence - Confidence to recieve the ball under pressure.
