This can be a pairs competition and the winner is the pair with the most points.
Pair Players up
Set up a stump in the middle
5 Balls on one side PER diagram at points A to E. (However far apart from sumps you want for difficulty)
Set 5 Cones on other side corresponding to the ball placement.
1 Player of the pair starts at Point A on the side with the lined up balls
The 2nd player of the pair is at the opposing cone (Cone 1) on the other side.
Basically the player on the side with the balls is tasked with moving from ball A through to E and picking the ball up and having a shot
While the partner on the back up side must move to the corresponding backup positions (1 through 5) to back the throws up cleanly. Back up player simply drops the ball at their feet.
Competition Points Example:
-1 Point for a Missed Run out
-3 Points for a miss fielded backup
+5 Points for Run out
You can add complexity to this drill - Refer to Runout & Back Up Pairs Competition V2
This is not about speed it is about accuracy. There is a speed accuracy trade-off so the faster the players try to do this activity it will be at the detriment of accuracy.
