Hi A dummy is used as an expression of a(Fake)such as dribbling a ball to a player and faking that you are going to blast the ball at them, when really you are going to take them on. When coaching this age always use simple terms and a fake is more acceptable. Hope this helps

Thanks for the help Craig I Fake is a very good word. Do you know of any other words or tearms that could be diffrent from American and the King's English?

Hi Bob, Great to hear someone who wants to use proper soccer language! The standard word in soccer is feint. That's the words all soccer academies use and that's the word that you will get the most hits on on the Internet. A feint is when you perform the fake to get your oppionent out of balance, dribble is when you do the move that takes the ball past your opponent and when you have past your opponent, you run with the ball.

American%3A Spot kick, Goal tender.

English%3A Penalty, Goal keeper/ goalie.

I can't think of any more right now but this is a really interesting question, I'm sure there are many more language differences between US and UK football terms (soccer and football is another one!).
