How should a fast bowler release the ball to have more pace?

How should a fast bowler release the ball to have more pace?

How should a fast bowler release the ball to have more pace?

When i'm bowling i'm not able to bowl straight & also my length line is not very good.mMy friends told me that i'm taking a lot effort while bowling and also they told me that the release of the ball is not correct.I want more pace while bowling but I able to do that whereas when I try for more pace I lose all my control. Should I have more runup & I have a habit of overstepping and bowling no balls. How can I solve all these problems ?

Hi Nigel, It sounds like a classic case of trying too hard.

The main thing is to concentrate on getting your line and length right. You can put in all the effort you can and have a long run-up, but if it is an illegal delivery that effort is wasted.

I would suggest going back to basics. Have a look at the  Fast bowling drills on this website.

Then once you have the basics and a smooth action you can start to build on your pace.
