Move left to deep drag / change direction to accelerate left

Coach's objective : To teach the drag from left to right prior to changing direction and accelerating away on the left side. Purpose : To exploit space on an opponent's open stick as a result of the defender denying the ball carrier the opportunity to drive to the right. Structure : Players work on their own.

Session Videos

Movement off the ball

Player on the left starts with the ball by running across the square the second player runs across behind the player with the ball when the cross the player with the ball passes the ball under the arm to the runner who then takes over the running with the ball. They then start again on the next cone and reverse the roles.

Pass and Receive - Moving the ball

Starting on the halfway line, player A dribbles towards the 'defender' (the first line of cones). Player A must use the pull-back and pass diagonally to Player B. Player B receives the pass, arcs around the cones and passes diagonally to Player C. Player C receives the pass, arcs around the cones and passes back to Player D on the halfway line. Continue the pass and move in this way until players have returned to their starting positions.

Passing on the move and score

This is a great practice for players to practice passin and receiving on the move. Set out 2 lines or cones about 5 meters apart in both directions. about 10 cones in total. one Player starts with the ball at the starting cone and has to pass the ball to the other player through the 1st horizontal channel of cones the the other player receives the bal;l and passes the ball back thtough the next channel, all the way this continues untill the last pass is received and the ball can be taken into the circle and shot at goal.

Quick Hit

HITTING TECHNIQUE It is difficult to define the ‘correct’ technique; if a player is quick and highly successful, a teacher should question whether to change a player’s style. However, it is recognized that only the flat, German style hit is effective on a water-based pitch, as other techniques tend to make the ball rise. It is highly desirable to teach the following:

Session Videos

react to defender

Player runs with the ball the side and has to pass the ball to a player on the right. The player receiving has to receive the ball to the opposite side to which the defender runs round.

Session Videos

Receive and score on the move

A player starts to run towards the 23 metre line (a). The running player has to call for one of the other players to pass the ball (b), on receiving the ball the player runs into the circle and shoots. The next player to run is the player that passed the ball (c). Progression: Put a player at the top of the circle with whom the players can play a wall pass, or this player can act as a defender.
