combination down right board

Player 1 runs with the ball through the little slalom and passes the ball to player 2 on the the half way line. this player then hook dribbles the ball around passing the ball via the board to player 3 coming from the centre of the circle. In the meantime player 4 runs into the space left by player 3 to receive the ball and score the goal.

Indoor Hockey

Combinations - Deflections

Drill to reinforce movement on the pitch. The player that started the move will score the deflection from the second or third pass. This will emphasise the need for rotation and dynamic movements.

Indoor Hockey

Combinations - Dynamic Actions

Drill to work on the movement of players to build an attack. The shot can either come near post if the goal keeper is out of position. Ideally the shot should go to the far post, with the other runner there to pick up a deflection if possible.

Indoor Hockey

Combinations - Pullback

Move with options around the top of the 'D'. Runners should continue the focus on dynamic movement, leading into space, and positioning for deflections.

Indoor Hockey

Combinations

Emphasis should be on the deflection coming outside of one of the posts.

Indoor Hockey

Deflection

One player will pass to their team mate, who will then play a deflection onto the board for a team mate, who will use an open stick side pick up and run through on goal and shoot.

Indoor Hockey

Deflection Left Post

Work on player 1 starting off the move by passing out wide. Then make the lead to the left post and across the face of the goal to where the cross is coming in from to make the deflection.

Indoor Hockey

Forcing Play over to the Forehand 2

Progression from the previous drill (1 vs 1 Defence A and B). Start the game more open, so the defence have to work harder to force the attack to their forehands.

Every time the ball is passed into the midfield while the forwards finish the move, the back two can take the next ball and start passing between themselves until the rotating forwards are ready to receive the next ball. Players not just running around in a circle, but looking to receive the ball.
