groups of 3, 1 fielder, 1 batter, 1 "setter upper". On caoch's signal, Batter hits ball off batting tee, between two different coloured cones approx 15m away and 3m apart.
Fielder stands behind cones, retrieves ball and returns to setter upper, who retrieves batting tee and sets up ball and tee for 2nd hit.
Safety - setter up stands behind cones 5m behind batter.
When coach is happy all is set up, and setter uppers are safe, signals for 2nd hit.
batters has 3 turns, then all players swap positions.
Safety - each batting station approx 10m apart.
progression: setter upper nominates a colour cone for the batter to aim for.
grip - place bat on ground face down, handle facing in direction ball is going to be hit. Stand beside bat, sideways on to target area. Pick bat up with both hands, like an axe.
Stand a little behind, not beside the ball.
backswing - bat goes away from the ball first, hands nearly to shoulder height. eo towards ball and hit through the gate.
watch the ball.
After contact, make sure face of the bat is pointing in the direction you want the ball to go.
Progression (probably not session 1). Grip hard with hand at the top of the handle and very soft with hand at the bottom of the handle.
