Great warm up Game - Physical and tactical. Players (white) start in one safe zone and have to get to the safe zone opposite. The coaches (Red) have soft sponge balls/tennis balls and must throw under arm trying to hit the players knee and below. Once hit the players then come to the sides and become throwers. Reiterate the safe under arm throw and only hit from knee down. Keep going until 1 person left. Reason described as Hardball is due to getting our under 10s used to running in some of the hard ball equipment. Helmets, pads etc. Get them used to seeing through grill for example.
Safety - Always keep eye on players becoming throwers as always try to throw over arm. Remind not trying to hurt your team mates.
Progression - can change the movement from running to hopping, animals (Snail always a funny one!)
Throwers try using weaker hands.
Remind throwers that if a ball comes to them from the opposite side they can still throw it if players are not in the safe zone yet.
