Its my Under 8s first friendly on Friday and most children have only been training a few weeks so know nothing about positions, marking etc.How do you suggest I go about setting them up and explaining what they need to do.I don't mind what result we get as long as they enjoy it.
I run a under 7 and it`s hard to get all players understanding positions. In my team half the players think if they are in defence then they should stay on edge of box till ball comes near them, or if a striker then stay up other end near goal. There`s a balance you need to find out between your players, but also give everyone an opportunity to try out every position. But you will find that the majority will ball chase. Plus they like to tackle each other lol.
