it depends on age and gender really. i coach 14-16yr old girls, and we have days that are just about building the team coession. we had a party/sleepover at my place for 9 girls, we have taken the kids to a state netball game, we have had parent vs kids games, beach training sessions, and the girls have their own Facebook conversation to keep in contact with during the week. I have set up a team FB page for me to let them know of upcoming events, but they have their own private conversation. if i hear of something i dont like, then i ask to be invited in, have a read and sort it out. we have a tightknit group of girls, of varying backgrounds, abilities and ages and they are a pretty close group.
if you are just talking drills to get them to work together, im sure you can find some online, but the first port of call, is to get everyone WANTING to work together as a team, support each other, even if they dont necessarily like one another, and respect each persons role within the team.
hope some of that helps.
I coach U11 girls and I find its very useful to play music during the warm up and some drills. Popular stuff like One Dimension, Jesse J, Emeli Sande, Bastille etc. Its the soundtrack to their lives so its familiar, has rhythm and helps with movement and energises them. We also have team events like BBQs, wall climbing, laser quests, special afternoon nets at the county ground etc. I found it important that the social side is invaluable to build a collective consciousness, and get them thinking that being part of a cricket team can be fun and not just boring practice and training. Keep it light and then the real work can begin.
Get your whole team to tie their legs together with rope the team has to learn how to get to a place and back working togther. lots of fun they have to walk in sink and co-operate
A bowling change can dismantle a partnership, halt a run surge, or hand the match back to the batting side. This article explores how modern captains use match phases, matchup data, and rhythm signals to time their changes, with a practical framework coaches can use to develop tactical thinking in young captains at club and age-group level.
T20 data shows that teams bowling 40 or more dot balls win more than 65 per cent of matches. Strike rotation is now the most undervalued skill in batting. This article breaks down why singles matter more than sixes, the soft-hands and crease-depth techniques behind elite rotators, and a coaching framework to train relentless ones and twos under pressure.
Pre-season is the best time to rebuild and refine batting technique without the pressure of match results. This article covers the fundamental batting positions that underpin consistent run-scoring, provides a progressive session framework from shadow batting to live bowling, and highlights the common pre-season mistakes that coaches should avoid.
