Pull shot - 9 year boy

ANSWERS
Cam HughesCoach, England

Hi Ranjit, for developing a good pull shot with your 9-year-old, here are a couple of drills you can try:

  1. Pull Shot Drill: This drill can be done in pairs or groups of three. Use tennis balls for safety. The feeder should bounce the ball in the feeding zone, and the batter plays the pull shot, aiming to hit the ball along the ground. Start with over-arm feeds and progress to under-arm for accuracy.
  2. Pull Shot Game: Set up cones as targets. The feeder delivers a high-bouncing ball, and the batsman has to pull the shot between the cones. This helps in practicing the aggressive, cross-body shot on the back foot. Make sure the arms are out in front, and the wrists roll at contact to keep the ball down.

These drills are designed to help young players develop the correct technique and confidence to play the pull shot effectively. You can find more details on these drills 1 here.
