What drills can you use to help young boys deliver good line and length
Asked using Sportplan on Mobile
It is important that the bowler has something to aim at, work on their aim first with line which is easier to manage at first by placing two cones down the wicket and ask the bowler to focus on bowling between the 2 cones. As they get better tighten the two cones up so the line becomes tighter. Then once they have improved at this use 2 more cones to create a box which you can then incorporate length into their bowling. At this point they have got used to 'having something to aim at' and you can work more on when they release the ball to differ their length. Again start with a bigger box then tighten it up as they get better.

Hitting a target is a good drill for the youngsters to concentrate on line and length.
To bowl a full length ball the bowler should be told to concentrate on a stationary target while bowling for example the bottom of the stumps if he still bowls short you can tell him to have his target moved little up that is to concentrate on the middle of the stump and bowl.

T20 data shows that teams bowling 40 or more dot balls win more than 65 per cent of matches. Strike rotation is now the most undervalued skill in batting.
