Hi,i am facing problem when i hit the shot in air and it is catched on boundary...
Hi Sam,
Try to hit less high and more long so that it clears the ropes and also the boundary fielder does not catches it.
When you attempt to hit, you need to be behind the ball, your body weight should get transfered to the ball and thats how you can get a clean hit.
Next, you need to know your limits.
Can you clear the longest boundary?
Can you clear Long off ?( Long On is natural for any batsman).
Can you clear midwicket ?
Can you clear all over ?
There has to be a lot of bottom hand power in the shot while hitting this kind of shot.
Practice this excercise---
3 players--yourself, bowler and fielder. Keep the fielder in the farthest possible position( 75mtrs is good enough). Ask the bowler to give you flight so that you can attempt a shot in air. Try to clear the fielder (less high/more long). Few things that you need to follow during this excercise--
1. Foot work
2. Bat speed with full blade offered to the ball.
3. Weight transfer.
Practice this by moving the feilder in different positions ( Long on Boundary/Long off boundary/Mid wicket/Deep Fine Leg). Practice-50+ shots. You gain confidence of 5 shots in an actual match.
There is nothing wrong in hitting the ball in the air , but you should only hit it when it is really required in the game situation.Best is to go for 4 instead of going for 6.
Cheers !!
