Dribble with Spin

Dribble with the ball in the right hand and spin. Having completed the spin, transfer the ball to the left hand to keep it as far from the defender as possible.

Whilst dribbling one ball forwards 5m, throw another ball up and catch it in the other hand. Start slowly and build up speed. Forces the player to keep their eyes up.

Right hand dribble

Keep feet shoulder width apart, weight slightly over the right foot. You should bounce the ball outside of the right foot. The hand should absorb some of the energy of the ball striking it by moving slightly on impact, and returning to the starting position whilst the ball is still in contact with the ball. NOTE: The hand should remain on the top of the ball only to prevent carrying.

Run Over Bench Dribble

Dribble the ball in your right or left hand, running with feet on either side of the bench. Forces players to think about other things than what they are doing with the ball, so dribbling will become second nature.

Switching leg positions every time, the basketball will be passed through the legs to the other hand. Start out slow, once you have got it down then you can increase the speed.
