Hi Rebecca,

It does depend on how far into their recovery they are. It`s very important that they recover fully before going back into high impact and intense drills, and definitely have them avoid contact with other players.

Although it may seem tedious for the player, I would start with really basic dribble and passing, helping them get used to running with the ball and passing whilst on the move. The drill attached is a good example.

You don`t want them performing drills with lots of twisting and turning until they are fully recovered and so stick with forward motion drills. Also make sure they do lots of strength work as they will need to build up their leg muscles to strengthen the knee and avoid a relapse.

Hope this helps!

Dribble & Pass

DESCRIPTION
Set up a square roughly 10m x 10m. Have a few players at each corner. In 2 of the corners (diagonal) a player starts with a ball. They run clockwise around the square, when they get halfway to the next corner they pass the ball to a player there. In this way the ball continually is passed clockwise around the square. Once each player has passed a few times switch to anti-clockwise.
