Hi guys im a new coach this year we are 4 games into our league, my team is sruggling with marking players, is there any tips to help my under 9s.
The key to marking players is getting the defenders to forget about the ball, the biggest problem in park football at any age has always been ball watching or ball chasing. I would suggest a small sided game where attackers all have bibs hanging from their shorts, the defenders are not allowed to touch the ball, to win possesion back they must simply remove the bib from the player who has the ball. I use this at adult level, it also helps encourage the attackers to move the ball quickly.
