This depends on what you are doing behing the stumps. If standing up to spin or medium pace you must always be aware of the stumping. Personally, I always expect the batmans to miss the ball so have my gloves in the area the ball will go if they miss. If the batsmen do miss the ball always remove the bails and appeal for the stumping, as long as it remains within the spirit of the game. Of course some choice words to the batsmen can sometimes put them off. I am not encouraging sledging though. Hope the helps.

Hope u r enjoying cricket, skills of W k is really v hard but doing it regularly u may come perfect and good WK.frist of alla WK should phycically fit 100% and use deferent way of parectice in the net session.closs catch ,one hand catch, right side catch, liftside catch and behand the net when a batsman is playing on slow or medium fast bowlers.A WK shoukd do it in crouch position .if i say Wk always in cruch position is right.WK should remain his hand in line of the ball ether it will be played or not. ky point always in cruch position and try to hold the ball in front of his eye ether it is paying or not.
