Dear Graeme

In response to your question I about scoring more singles, there are a number of things you can look at to improve this. These include:

  • Looking to work the ball onto both sides of the wicket. This can be done by opening and closing the face of the bat to score on the off and leg sides, and using the pace of the ball.
  • Practising 'soft' hands when playing the ball, to drop the ball for a single. This can be done by loosening the grip of the bottom hand on the bat.
  • Spreading the field out. By attacking the bowling, you can create more gaps to score your singles.

I have attached a drill you might want to try to get you started.

Hope this helps!
Tom
