There is always the opportunity to swing a cricket ball as long as it's looked after well enough. Of course it will swing more the newer it is but this shouldn't discourage bowlers.

One thing a bowler should always do is polish one end of the ball. Because it helps us a lot with the swing. The new ball tends to swing slightly more than the old ball.
