How to play a lofted shot on a good length?
Hi Sash,
Playing a lofted shot on a good length its a risk play and how you play it will depend on the type of bowler.
Pace bowler:
You will likely have to play this with a straight bat and be early on the shot to be able to create the space to play the ball in the air. The important part of playing a lofted shot it to keep your shape and not try to over hit the ball. You should aim to keep your head up and not fall across to one side, this is where you get out of line and strike the ball poorly, as a result being caught.
Spin bowler:
When facing spin, you have the option to play with a straight bat or a cross bat. When playing spin to hit a lofted shot, its important that you attempt to get close to the pitch of the ball to take away the effects of the spin.
You should also be looking to play the shot with the spin rather than hitting against it. This reduces the chances of a leading edge or missing the ball completely.
Again, don`t try to over hit the ball, keep your shape and balance and pick your moments to play a lofted shot.
I hope this helps!
Yes you are right and also batsman needs to know this for lofted shot. Thank you very much
