Keep your bat close to your front pad and don`t let your bat get ahead of your front pad. If the bat is out past your pad then any nicks will go to leg slip or you will be caught down leg side. Failure to close the gap between your bat and pad will increase the chance of being bowled.Watch the ball out of the bowlers hand really carefully EVERY ball. Tell yourself every time you face a ball "watch the ball come out of his hand". If you find you aren`t doing this EVERY ball then you have lost concentration. Start concentrating again. Watching the ball carefully will improve your skill at recognising what type of ball the bowler is going to bowl to you
