Hopefully this will improve calling and running between wickets. Put players into pairs. The rest of the players set up in the fielding positions set by the bowler.

• Each pair faces two overs and then two new players replace them.

• If batsman facing or the batsman at the other end do not call correctly they lose a run.

• If a batsman is out they lose 2 runs and change ends. I they are run out out they lose 4 runs and whoever is responsible for the runout goes to the non-strikers end.

• They batting pair with the most runs wins

You could modify the rules to give the fieldsmen some reward for outstanding fielding - a catch, fielding save, throw, backing up etc.. ie. an extra 5 min next batting practice session or something else you feels fits the task.

The more fun you can make it the better the players will respond.

Good Luck.
