Im looking for some good game based practices to focus on running between the wickets
hi lisa,
what age group is this plan for?
Adults who are between basic and advanced level
Hopefully this will improve calling and running between wickets. Put players into pairs. The rest of the players set up in the fielding positions set by the bowler.
⢠Each pair faces two overs and then two new players replace them.
⢠If batsman facing or the batsman at the other end do not call correctly they lose a run.
⢠If a batsman is out they lose 2 runs and change ends. I they are run out out they lose 4 runs and whoever is responsible for the runout goes to the non-strikers end.
⢠They batting pair with the most runs wins
You could modify the rules to give the fieldsmen some reward for outstanding fielding - a catch, fielding save, throw, backing up etc.. ie. an extra 5 min next batting practice session or something else you feels fits the task.
The more fun you can make it the better the players will respond.
Good Luck.

This article explores how modern captains use match phases, matchup data, and rhythm signals to time their changes, with a practical framework coaches can use to develop tactical thinking in young captains at club and age-group level.
T20 data shows that teams bowling 40 or more dot balls win more than 65 per cent of matches. Strike rotation is now the most undervalued skill in batting. This article breaks down why singles matter more than sixes, the soft-hands and crease-depth techniques behind elite rotators, and a coaching framework to train relentless ones and twos under pressure.
