Hi all - have any of my fellow coaches spent any time running middle practice (outdoors) scenarios eg redeeming a batting collapse, batting against really defensive fielding, running between the wickets under pressure etc. Would appreciate your experiences. Thanks, Graham

Hi Graham,
I think it`s important to always tell your players to bat the match situation. If you`re losing quick wickets, it`s important to occupy the crease for a while. Batting against a defensive field it`s important to keep the scoreboard ticking over and trying to manipulate the field by trying to find the gaps. Running between the wickets requires confident calling and trust the player making the call.
Here`s a good drill which you can adapt. You can put extra importance on losing a wicket by increasing the penalty runs that comes losing a wicket. You can also adjust the field to try and encourage the batsmen to find the gaps.
